Mural for our Narthex

Great Art will soon grace our newly redesigned narthex! The title of the mural that is planned for the upper south wall of the skylighted area is “We Are One People” and will honor the Indigenous people of the Grand Traverse region. The mural will in part illustrate some of the negative impact of colonization by the European settlers but as importantly, it will illustrate the dawn of a new relationship where people of all races live in peace and harmony and care for God’s creation responsibly. Funding for the mural is from a generous grant by the Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation. Painting will begin mid-July and end mid-August accompanied by a small art show of each of the artist’s work and closing with a Grand Opening Celebration with the artists on August 14th.
